Our management teams are comprised of professional individuals, intent on providing customers with a great dining experience. This is why the Lizard winks! Assistant Managers are ultimately responsible for all Front of House functions. Assistant Kitchen Managers are responsible for all Back of House operations. All managers are scheduled to work a five-day, 50 hour workweek to include opening, mid and closing shifts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing leadership, support, and continued development to our restaurant teams. Responsibilities also include guest relations, community relations, financial performance and the execution of Lizard systems.

Benefits for Managers

The Winking Lizard, Inc. offers a variety of company benefits, which are available to our management team and their families. We strongly promote the use of these benefits:

Medical Coverage

The plan utilizes an HRA offered through SummaCare. The plan allows you to use the physician or hospital of your choice; however, benefits will be paid at a higher level when a Network Provider is used. Contributions are made through payroll deductions and are effective on the first day of the month following 90 days of continuous employment. The plan includes automatic enrollment in a prescription drug card benefit.

Dental Coverage

Dental benefits are available through Guardian Health Services. Preventive services are covered at 100% and the deductible is waived. An alternate vision care plan is also available through Guardian’s VisionGuard (VSP), offering another option for specific coverage.

Vacations

The amount of vacation earned is based on the number of years of continuous service and is awarded at the beginning of each calendar year, which runs from March 1st through February 28th. Two weeks of vacation is provided for managers who have been employed for 1-3 years, and three weeks for 4 or more years of service. During your first year of employment, new managers are eligible to take their first week of vacation after 6 months.

Holidays

The Company believes in the quality of life beyond the work environment and as such is committed to a five-day workweek. Additionally, the Winking Lizard observes the following holidays for rest, relaxation, and time away from the workplace. We are closed New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and close the doors early on Christmas Eve. *Because of geographic location and the demands of business or special events, some Winking Lizards are open for Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

Retirement Savings Plan

Our 401(k) savings plan offers tax deferred savings and growth in a variety of investment options. Eligibility for enrollment begins after one year of employment. If you elect to participate in the plan, the company will match 25% of your contributions up to 2% of your annual earnings.

Management Training

Our goal is to develop managers to their highest potential, recognize their achievements, and prepare them as the best managers in the industry. We believe that a structured training program not only benefits the individual, but also is essential to our long-term growth plan.

The training program is performance based and is designed to keep pace with each manager as an individual. New managers will participate in training that covers every aspect of restaurant operations. We begin in the back-of-the-house, with intensive hands-on instruction that teaches the essential functions of each position in the kitchen. Trainees learn to perform various tasks and complete projects related to management functions specific to our restaurants.

We focus on instilling a passion and enthusiasm for the Lizard that is deep rooted in our culture and demonstrated throughout the company. We live to make the Lizard wink!

Upon the successful completion of your training, you will work in the capacity of Assistant Manager or Assistant Kitchen Manager, applying your newly acquired knowledge toward practical experience.

Our commitment to your development doesn’t end there. We have created instructional modules that cover many restaurant and personnel management topics to consistently expand the knowledge of our management teams. We utilize a Situational Leadership development model, which allows for self-paced project completion and assessment. We strive to give all managers effective and timely feedback in the form of performance reviews and one-on-ones. Our goal is to set our managers up for success by preparing them for promotion or recognition when the time is right.
